Dragons host Inclusion Day 2026

26/05/2026

Our award-winning Dragons Community team held its annual celebration of inclusive rugby recently – and this year it even included a special hybrid fixture.

One of the highlights in the calendar at Rodney Parade, the Inclusion Day saw the Community team champion some of the community and inclusion provisions we run – all tied into the week-long celebration of Gwent rugby that is the Dragons Cup.

The day was supported by Inclusion Partner, KLA, our Inclusion Day partner Wales & West Utilities.

The morning saw our Inclusion Schools – including Pen-y-Cym, Pontnewydd, Crownbridge, St Gwynllyw and the River Centre - play on the stadium pitch before an Ethnically Diverse Community School series of games featuring Maindee Primary School followed.

A busy afternoon of action kicked off with a Walking Rugby match as Dragons Phoenix played Neath RFC. Our Walking Rugby provision is supported by Rollover, ABUHB and sponsored by Centerprise International.

Our Mixed Ability teams, sponsored by GP Shipping, then took centre stage with two games in the evening sunshine. Dragons ALLSTARS Touch and Women played Magor Maidens in a round robin competition.

The final game of the day saw Dragons ALLSTARS play Torfaen Rigers PDRL in a physical disability rugby league and rugby union hybrid game – with rugby union first half and rugby league second half.

A wonderful evening was generously supported by Rollover who provided all the food for the teams and officials on the night.
