Newport Gwent Dragons assault on Europe will begin in earnest on Saturday October 23rd when World Cup winning hero Jonny Wilkinson, Welsh Captain Colin Charvis and former Australian utility back Matt Burke along with their Newcastle Falcons team mates visit Rodney Parade for The Dragons opening match, kick off 1pm.
The following weekend The Dragons travel north to Murrayfield, the new home of Todd Blackadder, Simon Taylor, Mike Blair and Brendan Laney and their Edinburgh Rugby teammates for their second Heineken match on Sunday 31st October kick off 1pm.
Following a break in matches the Heineken Cup resumes in December when there are back-to-back matches against French giants Perpignan. The French side, which contains internationals of the calibre of Dan Luger, Manny Edmonds and Daniel Herbert visit the Dragons Lair on Saturday 4th December kick off 2.30pm.
The return match to Perpignan is the following weekend on Saturday 11th December and is an evening kick off 7pm.
Commenting on The Dragons draw in Europe Chief Executive Andy Marinos commented, “We are all tremendously excited about our draw in Europe and the mouth watering games that will be played at Rodney Parade. We will have some world class players playing at the Dragons Lair with the likes of Matt Burke, Jonny Wilkinson and Wales captain Colin Charvis visiting on the opening weekend. Then when Perpignan come to town the public will have the opportunity to see Dan Luger, Tim Stimpson, Manny Edmonds and Daniel Herbert in action. The sporting public in Gwent want to see the top names in the game playing here and they won’t be disappointed by the quality of players who will be coming.”
