Newport Gwent Dragons suffered their first Celtic League loss against fellow Welsh Region the Ospreys going down 15-9.
The match was a fierce encounter that saw three players sent to the sin bin, Kevin Morgan and Jamie Ringer for The Dragons and Duncan Jones for the Ospreys and the home side were also awarded a penalty try.
All The Dragons points came from three Craig Warlow penalties and it was The Dragons who took an early three point lead before Aled Brew, brother to Dragon Nathan Brew scored in the corner thanks to a fantastic floating pass from Ospreys skipper Leigh Davies.
The conversion was missed but the Ospreys increased their lead after 15 minutes with a penalty. Jamie Ringer was sent to the sin bin for killing the ball and it was when they were down to 14 men that Warlow struck over his second penalty.
The Dragons were reduced briefly to 13 men when Kevin Morgan was judged to have deliberatley gone off side to slow the Ospreys ball. Scrambling defence and a fantastic effort by Ian Gough who held up Stefan Terblanche on the line denied the Ospreys their second. However, rather than go for three points the home side kept the pressure on The Dragons with a series of scrums and when referee Whitehouse awarded a penalty try The Ospreys led 15-6 going into half time.
The second half saw Craig Warlow add his third penalty after Jones was sin binned for hanging on. The Dragons launched a sustained attack at the Ospreys with forwards making inroads and Wyatt nearly scored with a neat chip and chase but Davies was on hand to avert the danger.
However, The Dragons did secure a bonus point for losing by less then seven points.
