Davies, who has made 50 appearances for the Cardiff Blues, has already made the move to the Dragons and is currently undertaking pre-season with the squad at the training ground in Ystrad Mynach.

Born in Church Village, Davies played for Cardiff Blues U16s and went through the ranks to spend two years with the U18s. During this time, he won international call-ups for Wales at both U18s and U20s level.

The 23-year-old, who has a developing reputation as a strong scrummaging prop, has been signed by the Welsh Region to strengthen the loose-head resources available to the Dragons.

The Dragons are currently without prop Phil Price who recently underwent shoulder surgery. Price is presently going through rehabilitation and is expected to be available in late September.

After signing his contract, Tom Davies commented: “I am really grateful for the opportunity that Kingsley has given me with the Dragons. They are an exciting squad with many talented youngsters, and despite having a tough season last year they are making strides in the right direction.

He added: “Looking back at my time with Cardiff Blues my chances were very limited, which resulted in me being added into the team and then taken out of it continuously, so I am looking forward to challenging for a first team position and for my game time be a lot more consistent.”

Dragons Head Coach, Kingsley Jones added: “Thomas (Davies) is a player highly rated amongst his team mates from age grade ranks through to senior level.

“Having played 50 league games at just 23 years old is such an achievement in the tough position of prop. He will bring great cover for Phil (Price) in the short term and will go on to challenge for a regular first choice spot in the longer term.”
