Boss Dean Ryan has revealed Wales international Cory Hill is pushing for a playing return in Europe – but he will delay making a final decision until later this week.
Hill, 27, has been out of action with injury since featuring for Wales in the Six Nations clash with England.
However, the pack ace has now returned to training and Ryan admits he could yet feature in the home European Challenge Cup clash with Worcester Warriors on Friday night (kick-off 8pm).
“Cory is pretty close and he is a potential for this game,” said Ryan. “There is no better place to lead than on a field and Cory is obviously frustrated after the summer and is desperate to get out there.
“I just want to make sure that we get him out at the right time because I don’t want him to go backwards.
"It has been a long slog to get him to this place and the medical team have done some great work in getting him ready and right because chasing a World Cup across the summer has left him in quite a disadvantage.
"There is nothing stopping Cory playing (on Friday)… well there is, it's whether I select him! I haven't made my mind up yet but there is nothing stopping him running around and playing a game, which is great.
“We’re getting closer to having some more options,” he added.
“Brandon (Nansen) is also back on the training field and now we need to get him up to speed. We will see when we can get him involved.
“I think we are still concerned that Ross (Moriarty) needs to get back to full health.
“If we move too quickly we might set him back. If it was next week I would take both of them, but this week Cory is starting to spend more time on the field which makes him an option and for Ross it is a week too early.”
Ryan has also revealed centre Tom Grffiths could come back into contention after being forced off early at Sixways.
"It's not as bad as we first thought, it's a pretty bad dead leg," said Ryan. "He was out for nine months so he is getting every injury out there, a hand stinger and now one on his knee.
"That's what happens when you come back but we are desperate to get him in just to understand what he can offer us."
