Dragons boss Dean Ryan will not set a deadline for Cory Hill’s return – insisting the lock must be given the right time to make his comeback.
Hill was selected by Wales Head Coach Warren Gatland for the Rugby World Cup, but returned from Japan 2019 after failing to recover from a stress fracture of his leg.
Ryan has now given the 27-year-old – who has not played since featuring in Wales win over England in the Six Nations - time away and insists he will not return until he is full recovered.
“I have spoken to Cory and told him to go and have a couple of weeks away,” said the Director of Dragons Rugby.
“He will have been chasing deadlines for a long time now and we didn’t want him to come back and have a Dragons deadline put on him.
“We want to get it right because mentally it will have been tough to have gone all that way and got so close while still chasing a deadline.
“We felt that getting away was probably the biggest stimulus to him coming back fresh, so he will come back in the week of the Glasgow game.
“Then we will get a better understanding of what we need to do and the last thing we are going to do is rush it again.
"After a long chase for a World Cup that he hasn’t made, what is important is that we get Cory right.”
