Wing Jonah Holmes believes moving to Dragons will allow him to pursue his ambitions in both the domestic and international arena.
Holmes will make the move to Rodney Parade on a long-term contract after a three-year spell at Leicester Tigers.
The 27-year-old leaves Welford Road on good terms and with a wealth of positive experiences and development.
But the three-times capped Wales international admits the chance to move to South Wales was too good an opportunity to turn down.
“I'm very ambitious, I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't have ambitions,” he said. “When you get an opportunity like this, you take it.
“I get to be part of the progress that was made on the field last year and work under Dean (Ryan) and the new coaching staff.
“I know the game they want to play and it’s the kind of game and style of rugby I want to be part of.
“I’m excited to get over and play regularly with them and it’s a whole new competition to sample.
“I am ready to go now, but just waiting for the government to say go.
"I've played at Rodney Parade once when I was at Wasps, but that's it," he added.
"Luckily I do know a few of the boys, so the first day won't be too much like the first day at school and I'm looking forward to getting to know the full squad."
Holmes is also hoping the move will boost his international aspirations – he made his debut for Wales in November 2018 against Tonga.
"I'd like to think I'd get a better chance. I'd train one day (with Wales) and then head back and the rest of the boys would get the rest of the week to train so that wasn't great for me," said Holmes.
"It means I don't have to travel back and forth if I do get in that squad and, if you're playing in that league (the Guinness PRO14), you're in the spotlight whereas you're at a distance if you're over in the (English) Premiership.
"It was a hard decision but simple in that if you get this sort of opportunity, I would regret it if I didn't take it."
