Business has been brisk in the Dragons ticket office since the Men of Gwent became the first Welsh region to release season ticket prices for current holders for the 2020/21 campaign. Membership sales to join the Dragons family for next season are up over 40% compared to the same point in the 2019/20 renewal window.
Existing members have just over two weeks left to renew their membership with the Welsh region, before the Friday 25th September deadline, if they wish to take advantage of the payment split, best price membership offer and secure their seat. Season ticket sales are currently only available for renewing members, but there’s a waiting list new purchasers can join to be ready if and when memberships go on sale to new or returning supporters. Only a third of the membership renewal is required up front, with payments split into three and staggered until February 2021. At least for the start of the new season, home games are expected to take place behind closed doors.
Dragons are appealing to only those supporters who can afford to renew their membership to do so, with the three separate instalments introduced to help make it more affordable to the Rodney Parade faithful given many in our communities may have taken a hit to their personal income as a result of the pandemic.
The payment instalments will be managed directly by the club and will not come at an additional cost to supporters, who also won’t need a credit check to pay via this method.
Even though Rodney Parade has been certified as a Covid-19 compliant venue, no date has been set for the return of supporters as yet, so Dragons have also introduced the ‘P.A.S.S. Promise’ which involves four key commitments to supporters designed to protect those looking to renew.
Along with the staggered pricing, Dragons are pledging absolute priority for admission to those members that renew their membership to any home fixture that goes ahead once supporters are allowed to return. Those first to renew will be at the front of the queue to attend.
Alternatively, should capacity need to be reduced at any stage, season members will receive priority for any ballot allocation of tickets, as well as the first opportunity to renew for the following campaign.
85% of supporters chose to either donate or claim a credit rather than a refund for their membership for last season after the Covid pandemic curtailed the campaign. Fans with credits will have their total added to their ticketing account and this will be automatically available to use towards a 2020/21 season membership.
However, supporters not wishing to renew their season ticket can ask to use their pro-rata credit towards match tickets later this season when it’s safe to return to watch live sport.
