Hooker Richard admitted his hat-trick of tries against Connacht was a bittersweet moment – and instead immediately turned his attention to helping Dragons get back to winning ways on home soil.
Hibbard marked his 50th appearance for Dragons with a treble against Connacht at Rodney Parade.
But it was the Irish province who took the points with a 30-20 win in the Guinness PRO14.
And for former Wales international Hibbard conceded was a difficult result to take as Dragons now look to respond against Edinburgh on Friday night (kick-off 7.35pm).
“I’d definitely swap the tries for a win,” said Hibbard. “It is a difficult result to take, I thought we were good in parts and poor in others. Losing at home is always disappointing.
“A maul hat-trick is nothing really - it’s not like I’ve run 70 metres. I was just on the back of a dominant pack. The boys put the effort in in front of me. It’s bittersweet for me.
“We’ve got to get better,” he added. “We have six games on the bounce now and need to build some momentum. Four are at home so we have got to start picking up some wins.
“It was frustrating the number of errors from us and Dean (Ryan) said to us after the game that we need to go away and look at ourselves. We’ve done it before and are just not learning.
“I have been through the tough times before in different clubs and sometimes it is tough. You have got to keep that calm head.
“The boys are not going out to lose or make errors. We have got to grow the confidence, yet not take their legs away. It is a fine balance.
“I love these boys. The effort is massive and I’m sure we will push on.”
