Dean Ryan hailed a ‘courageous and physical' performance from his Dragons as they produced a sensational second half show to stun Glasgow Warriors 26-17 in the Guinness PRO14 at Principality Stadium.
Dragons scored 17 unanswered points in the second half in the Welsh capital with Jordan Williams scoring a stunning solo try before Matthew Screech bulldozed his way over.
The result meant the Rodney Parade region completed a Guinness PRO14 double over the Warriors, backing up their December triumph at Scotstoun
And the result also took Dragons level with Glasgow in Conference A going into the final weekend of the season and a home clash with Edinburgh next Sunday afternoon.
“It was a courageous performance and you could see the intensity we had in our game,” stated Ryan.
“I thought we were outstanding in the last 15 minutes. We had a clear picture of what we wanted to achieve and our physicality has been building this last three or four weeks.
“The levels that we are playing at are above anything we have been able to achieve previously.
“It's as physical and complete as we have been. We have never lacked effort and we have been physical in the past but then somebody would make an error and it wouldn't count for anything.
“Things are just coming together at the same time and that's what growing together as a side is about. Glasgow was another step towards that.
“We are now physical – if you run to run at us, fine. The previous week was the most physical game that we have been involved in, because I rate Ulster in that department.
“If people want to run at us we are now organised and we are now physical and we make things really difficult for teams, as we saw at the end against Glasgow.
“We are now starting to build some moments when we get our own game on the field and threaten, although we've still probably got to be a bit more accurate when we have those pressure moments.”
Dragons were forced into changes early on in the game – and one during the warm-up.
But Ryan was thrilled with the manner in which his side dealt with that adversity.
He said: “We lost Josh Lewis in the warm-up and then Ollie (Griffiths) and Jamie (Roberts) are off inside 20 minutes.
“We had a major reshuffle and it could have been disastrous for us. But we got our heads down and just got on with it.
“We are staying alive and I am quite enjoying that – I wish the season went on for a few more weeks.
“Ross Moriarty was outstanding and our quality builds with the likes of Waino (Aaron Wainwright) back next week. We’re enjoying playing together at the moment.”
