Rosser eager to right some wrongs

14/04/2023

Jared Rosser admits Dragons RFC are eager to ‘right a few wrongs’ after stripping back their game ahead of the BKT United Rugby Championship clash with Ulster Rugby.

Rosser – who last week signed a new contract with the Men of Gwent – lines up at outside centre at the Kingspan Stadium in Belfast tonight (kick-off 7.35pm).

The 25-year-old has reflected on the Euro defeat at Glasgow Warriors last time out and revealed how Head Coach Dai Flanagan put an emphasis on the fundamentals of the game before this trip.

“These last two games are a chance to set a few wrongs right,” said Rosser, who has scored 27 tries in 74 games for Dragons.

“We’ve stripped our game back a lot the last week and a bit and had a big emphasis on the basic levels.

“When we nail those then it is just the finishing touches then.

“Ulster is a tough game. But the boys are rating to go now and right a few wrongs after the last performance. We’re looking forward to it.

“We’ve been working on the fundamentals,” he added. “We nailed them at the beginning of the season and maybe we have neglected them as a playing group a little.

“When you are going to the likes of Glasgow away, when they are on top form, you can’t afford to not be nailing those.”

Rosser will be aiming to play with a spring in his step after signing new terms with the club alongside younger brother Ewan.

“I’m buzzing to sign the new contract,” he said.

“This is my sixth season in the senior set-up, and I love it here, all my best mates are here, so I am pleased to have signed.

“It’s great that Ewan signed too. I spoke to the media team at the club, and it was nice that they announced us together. That means a lot to the family.

“Ewan has been training and playing well. He’s been training with the senior set-up here for a season and a bit now and it’s handy for the lift share and saving a bit of petrol money.

“It was good to get the contract done and for me personally now it is about chasing down 100 games,” he added.

“It was nice to see my try scoring ratio in the Argus too, I’ll try and work my way up the leader board a bit more too.”
