Head Coach Dai Flanagan has backed Dragons new boy Corey Baldwin to be a hit at Rodney Parade and give a new dimension to the club’s wing resources.
Baldwin has joined the Men of Gwent this summer alongside Wales blindside Dan Lydiate and Test hopeful scrum-half Dane Blacker.
The 24-year-old left the Scarlets after making 29 appearances over two spells and Flanagan is confident he can follow in the footsteps of Steff Hughes and be a big hit at Dragons.
“Corey is a great player who was a bit unlucky with injury last season and I think he could be the one that surprises everyone because he is 6ft, a Jonathan Davies type build and he is quick,” said Flanagan.
“Selection is one man’s opinion and Steff was released then came here and showed what he can do when given the chance to play. Corey can do the same.
“His ball carrying stands out and if you look at our other wingers here they are all out and out gas men,” added Flanagan.
“Corey gives us another dimension as a winger that can come in and run hard off shoulders, carry over the gain line and also do the often unseen work like chasing kicks hard.”
