Over 550 schoolchildren from schools across our region took part in a special two-day tag rugby festival recently as part of our Gateway Rugby programme run by Dragons Community.
One of the highlights in the calendar for our award-winning Dragons Community team, a total of 52 primary schools were represented in the tournament that was supported by our community partners, Melin Homes.
Youngsters got the opportunity to play on the stadium pitch at Rodney Parade and were also able to meet first team stars Leon Brown and Ben Carter who the two days as they came along to hand out medals.
The top two schools from each day will now play in finals at half-time during our final home league game of the season against DHL Stormers in May.
Congratulations to Glasllwch and Ystrad Mynach, who will compete for the Shield, and Langstone and Georgetown, who battle it out for the Cup, at Rodney Parade later this year.
