Dragons RFC continued our commitment to being an eco-friendly club at the latest Eco Dragons workshop held at Rodney Parade.
The workshop was the second to date and was held in collaboration with Pledgeball and Cardiff University with a variety of attendees from the community and private companies.
Engaging activities were led by Katie Cross from Pledgeball with suggestions offered from Dragons staff, supporters, partners, council members and members of different public transport organisations, leading to an open and honest discussion on how Dragons can become a more eco-friendly match day and community experience.
Following this, Cardiff University delved into their survey finding. This provided an insight on our own fans’ approach to sustainable travel on matchdays.
Discussions were held on what Dragons, the council and public transport organisations can do in order to make the decision to switch from non-sustainable to sustainable travel and easier and crucially safe experience for our fans.
Dragons and Wales prop Leon Brown was also in attendance, offering his insights on how the club can be of aid to the wider community, expressing the issues which matter to him and the people of Gwent.
While the work Dragons have already done was acknowledged and appreciated, there is plenty more to do in the future, so it’s a case of watch this space! Our thanks go to all those who attended, including Cassie Moreland from Newport Transport Ltd, Stagecoach Group Limited, Nichole Sarra from Transport for Wales, momentwm Newport Live, Jon Foley, Louis Preece, Saffron Bowtell and Leon Brown for their participation and contribution to the workshop.
Such collaborative efforts continue to be instrumental in driving positive and sustainable environmental change for Dragons and the wider community.
