Warren Gatland has praised recalled Dragons RFC scrum half Rhodri Williams - and insists the nine has the high tempo game and experience to shine for Wales.
Williams was one of four Dragons named in a 35-player squad to come into camp on Monday (October 28) ahead of the Autumn Nations Series. Back row Aaron Wainwright, wing Rio Dyer and lock Ben Carter join him.
Wales face Fiji, Australia, and South Africa on consecutive weekends this November at Principality Stadium.
Williams is one of five recalled players named and will hope to add to his three Wales caps.
The 31-year-old made his full international debut in November 2013 against Tonga but has not featured for over a decade.
Williams earned a recall in June 2021, but a shoulder injury kept him out of games against Canada and Argentina, and missed out after a call-up in 2022.
And Gatland believes the Dragon – who has now played 118 times for the Men of Gwent and made his 150th BKT URC appearance last weekend – full deserves his latest recognition.
Gatland said: "I thought he played well last year. We’ve been really impressed with how he’s been playing with tempo. He’s scoring tries, running good support lines, he’s got good experience.
"He deserves that opportunity. Kieran Hardy is coming back from injury and we want to see him get some more rugby. It’s a reward for someone like Rhodri, showing that leadership."
