Captain Aneurin Owen admitted the ability to manage momentum shifts was crucial as an impressive Glasgow Warriors side emerged with a 45-20 victory over Dragons at Rodney Parade.
The Men of Gwent impressed in the opening 20 minutes of the BKT United Rugby Championship encounter to open up a 10-0 lead.
But a free-flowing Warriors side wrestled back control in the second quarter of the game before pulling clear in the second half.
“There was a lot of good and positive to take from that,” stated Owen.
“We just need to look around our ability to stick in moments in games and manage the momentum of a game.
“When we are on top, we looked really good that first 20 minutes. But then in one or two moments the momentum shifts and it’s how we manage that.
“There were positives to take from it, but obviously there are a lot of work-ons and we have got to keep trying to improve as a group.
“We probably didn’t take some of our chances and there were more clinical when they made line breaks. They are a good outfit and why they are up at the top of the table.”
Owen also spoke about the appointment of Head Coach Filo Tiatia on a permanent basis and his hopes now the long-term future of the club’s coaching team was confirmed.
“We are enjoying working with Filo. It is a positive and nice to have that long-term plan now,” he said.
“We know he is here long-term and there is a young squad that we are giving experiences to play.
“Hopefully they will keep improving and if we can then add to the squad, with some boys coming back from injury, we can keep improving as a group.”
