Head Coach Filo Tiatia admitted a poor first half display had cost his side in the Scottish capital as Edinburgh wrapped up a 38-5 victory in the BKT United Rugby Championship at Hive Stadium.
Wales back row Aaron Wainwright grabbed a second half score for the Men of Gwent.
But the damage was already done after the Scots had opened up a 26-0 lead and secured the bonus point by the break.
Tiatia said: “I was disappointed with the first half. I thought we just weren’t clinical enough and gave too many openings to a very good Edinburgh side.
“We didn’t look after the ball, so I was disappointed with gifting opportunities.
“Edinburgh played really well, they applied lots of pressure and they managed to score points.
“I most definitely saw things we can build on. We saw glimpses in the second half, in the first ten or 15 minutes, when we applied pressure and managed to score points.
“But this is about focussing concentration and staying in the scrap.
“When things aren’t going well it becomes a trend or a habit and we have got to break those habits and stay in moments.”
