The SRC is only two weeks in but a Gwent side is sitting pretty at the top of the tree.
Following back-to-back maximum six-point wins, Ebbw Vale sit proudly atop the Super Rygbi Cymru table on 12 points following their 34-17 win at Bridgend on Saturday.
A brace from Joe Franchi along with tries for wing Dafydd Thomas and hooker Ieuan Morris secured the four-try bonus point with 11 points from the boot of Evan Lloyd and a Dorian Jones penalty securing the additional point.
Ebbw led 10-3 at the break via Thomas and the boot of Lloyd, before Franchi’s brace and Morris’ score saw the Steelers race into a 31-3 lead before Bridgend fought back with two tries of their own.
The game also saw a debut for Dragons academy nine Carter Pritchard off the bench, while Owen Conquer started at eight.
Elsewhere, Newport took two losing bonus-points home from a 24-28 defeat at Aberavon.
After a disappointing first half, the Black and Ambers fought back from 18-0 down at the break as a brace for Fin Baker plus scores for Chay Foster-Smith and Morgan Williams brought Newport to within a whisker of the wizards.
The game saw a first start for Dragons Academy’s Cerrig Smith for Newport, meanwhile newly crowned Super Rygbi Cymru player of the season Jac Lloyd started at 12 with Jordan Morris at loosehead.
At Pontypool Park, head coach Tom Hancock suffered his first home league defeat in charge as they lost 14-23 to RGC in tough conditions.
A try from former Dragons Academy back three Walker Price and a penalty from Kieran Meek had put Pooler 8-0 up early on and the side led 14-13 until the final stages thanks to three penalties from Kieran Meek.
However, a late penalty from the visitors followed by a breakaway score in the dying seconds meant that Pontypool fell to their first defeat of the season.
George Tuckley, Morgan Lloyd and Ryan Jones all made appearances for Pooler in the game.
This weekend there is plenty more action as Ebbw Vale welcome Cardiff RFC to the CINER GLASS stadium, again on Saturday 2:30pm, at the same time as Newport welcome Swansea and Pontypool travel West to Carmarthen Quins.
