Wales U20s Earn Bonus Point Win Against Scotland

20/02/2026

Wales Under 20s earnt their first win of this years' Six Nations with a 31-21 victory at the Cardiff Arms Park.

Having gone close against England in round one and lead at half time in round two against France, Wales got the victory, once more after a superb opening first forty.

As with the games against England and France, Wales lead at half-time, this time 19-0 with Dragons’ Evan Minto at the heart of a hugely impressive back row alongside player of the match Deian Gwynne and Caio James.

First half tries from lock Luke Evans and debutant Bailey Cutts, along with two penalties from the half way from flyhalf Carwyn Leggatt-Jones had given Wales a 16-0 lead before Scotland thought they had their first points with a try, only to be denied by a neck roll.

A penalty to close the half from Leggatt-Jones, from a more modest 45 metres ensured they had their best half-time lead to date.

Scotland scored early in the second half through Campbell Waugh, however, Wales responded well as a Leggatt-Jones' crossfield kick was gathered by wing Dylan Scott on debut for a try.

Wales secured the bonus-point score as hooker Tom Howe crashed over from five metres out, with Lloyd Lucas’ conversion giving his side a 24-point lead with fewer than 20 minutes remaining.

Scotland fought back in the final 10 miunutes to fray the nerves of Welsh fans, as replacements Jack Marshall and Jackson Rennie bludgeoned their way over late on but Wales held on for a big home win.

Next up for Wales is a trip to Ireland before a home clash against Italy at Dragons’ home of Rodney Parade on Sunday the 15th of March.

Make sure you're there to cheer on the next generation of Welsh stars. Tickets are available HERE.
