Staff from Dragons RFC were joined by volunteers from several of our partners recently for a ‘Big Community Clean-up’ at Maindee Primary School.
At Dragons we believe sustainability is about more than environmental responsibility - it's about creating a lasting positive impact in the communities we serve. By working together to improve local spaces, reduce litter, and promote civic pride, we're helping to build a cleaner, healthier environment for future generations.
As part of this and our Eco Dragons initiative, we were joined by several of our valued partners who generously gave their time to help make a difference.
Our thanks to KLA, Dragons Signs and Andrew Howard from the Welsh Sports Association for helping us. From preparing the ground for the pumpkin patch, weeding and clearing the beds to organise the courtyard, and beginning of a new physic garden, where children will grow herbs used in traditional medicine, it was great to see what was achieved.
David Watts, Sustainability Lead at Dragons RFC, said: “The volunteers made a real difference and enabled our club to deliver an event that brought people together and helped make a positive impact in our local community.
“Support like this is so important, allowing us to continue organising projects that benefit local schools and create opportunities for people to get involved and give back.
“We would also like to say a huge thank you Martine Smith and Maindee School for welcoming us. It was great to spend time there and strengthen the connection between the club and the local community.
“Community partnerships like this show what can be achieved when local organisations, businesses, and schools work together.
“Thank you once again to everyone involved for helping make the day such a success!”
