Co-captain Ben Carter pinpointed the positives from the tour to South Africa – as attention now quickly switches to European competition and a trip to Paris.
The Men of Gwent secured a deserved try bonus point in defeat to Fidelity SecureDrive Lions at Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg.
That came six days after pushing DHL Stormers all the way in Cape Town.
And Carter – who linked up with the team in South Africa after his exploits with Wales – admitted while they could have taken more from the game with Lions it was a trip of positives.
“I thought there were a lot of positives, lot of good attacking play, and we scored some nice tries,” said the second row, reflecting on the Lions game.
“We also left a few out there and had we stuck them it might have been a different game. We’re frustrated with that but pleased with some of the good stuff we put together.
“There was a lot of good attacking play, some impressive stuff, but we have got to make sure they all stick.
“We have worked hard for each other on this tour,” he added.
“There have been a lot of good examples of that. I don’t think we can question the effort.
“We have just got to make sure we make things stick when we are under fatigue.
“There are a lot of positives, and we now have a quick turnaround for a big European match next week, so we have got to make sure we tidy up those learnings.”
